Updated version of the 20051127 blog – which has been removed.
After doing a clean install of Ubuntu 5.10, which installed like a breeze, I needed to re-install all usefull goodies. One very usefull script-package is Automatix. It installs a bundle of usefull stuff1, DVD (dvdrip) ripper, Mplayer and mplayerplug-in version 3.05 for Firefox, totem-xine, Realplayer, VLC and Beep Media Player (with docklet), Opera Browser and much, much more…. All in one go!
Before installing Automatix, please read
Automatix (Automated GUI installation script)
If you’re using Ubuntu (not Kubuntu/Xubuntu), it boils down to doing:
wget http://beerorkid.com/automatix/automatix_5.7-3_i386.deb
sudo dpkg -i automatix_5.7-3_i386.deb
Oh, and please close Synaptic before you give it a go.
